justalilhype! X Olympic Flame

justalilhype! Crew checked out the Olympic Flame. The journey to see the torch was a hassle as there were lots of tourists around to see this attraction before the closing ceremonies of the Olympics. We dashed through the crowds as always and got a good photo with the Flame. There’s really nothing much to say about it. Other than the awkward moment that Alan and Jenkin had upon asking a random DSLR qualified tourist to help us take a photo, when we could not find the camera which Christine was holding, and people randomly singing our national anthem. Nevertheless, in the end of the day justalilhype! is proud to be representing Vancouver and Canada from all aspects, just don’t let us down tomorrow Men’s Canada Hockey Team! GO GOLD!

Benkei Revisit and Meeting Kevin

justalilhype! walked from Gas Town all the way to Burrard to find food around $5 dollars. We had an idea to order 3 rices along with one of our favourite Korean dishes, BiBamBap, but the Korean restaurant that we found was packed. We then diverged our original plan into going to one of our favourite Ramen place, Benkei. We met one of the workers there called Kevin whom hooked Alan up with double extra noodles. He had a conversation about how it was confusing because with the student ID you get extra noodles for 50% off, from $1.00 to $.50 but if you did double extra noodles, the discount doesn’t stack and it costs $1.50. Anyhow, the meal was satisfying but we still love the one on Robson more! Thanks Kevin, looking forward to see the new Benkei website that you are developing.

YYoga with the lululemon Bloggers!

The justalilhype! Crew met up with the lululemon athletica girls again, this time at YYoga Flow in Downtown. We did hot yoga and we sweat a lot as always. After our session, the justalilhype! Crew did an exclusive behind the scenes shoot with the lululemon girls inside a private yoga room. The girls showed their skills to us and proved that employees from lululemon do have a passion and love for yoga. After the fun at YYoga Flow, we were starving and headed to Stepho’s Greek restaurant, but it was packed so we headed to Junction Pub for a quick snack. It was good to be able to see the Olympics broadcasted live but the food took forever. Upon discussing about the medal count and the importance of tomorrow’s game, the food finally arrived and we munched down. Here are the photos with the girls Whitney Benjamin, Liz Johnson, Jenna Kuerschner, and Tiffany Assman. We will keep in touch with you and wish you a safe flight back to your respective homes, after a fun filled two weeks at Vancouver tweeting and blogging about the Olympics.

Our good friend JayKin hooked us up with his old compilation, Vintage Mixtape. We’ve been waiting on this joint for the longest time and we finally got it, although this post is a bit behind. Produced by veterans DJ Kutcorners and DJ Seko, this mixtape features a lot of, well, vintage sounds and he samples one of my fave lines from Biggie. JayKin has asked us to share this mixtape with our readers!

Phở at Le Petit Saigon

The justalilhype! Crew visited Le Petit Saigon for Phở Noodles, one of our favorite snacks. Upon arrival we were blocked off for about 5 minutes, watching two ladies desperately backing out to get their car out of the parking lot. We were patient but once we drove closer to the restaurant, we already felt a sense of goodness of the Phở house and were very hungry. The restaurant looks old and is on east hastings right before P.N.E. so for it to stay in business for so long, it must have held a set of high standards. While walking from the parking lot to the restaurant, we could already smell the soup! We both got Phở noodles and a side dish of spring rolls. (Only $1.75!) We enjoyed the soup base a lot but thought the meat could be better. Anyways, this place is qualified by us as a good place for a quick snack!

Meeting at Waves Kingsway

justalilhype! Crew met up today at Kingsway and discussed about our next project with our graphic designer, Jessey. What’s coming next from him are sticker designs. It’s good to talk about designs at coffee shops, cups are handy for describing shapes and sizes. We also found our HYPE Gs of the day as well. The meeting went well and after we got a chance to mess with Adobe Illustrator and Google Wave for a bit. Keep your eyes open!
