Michael Burt used to own a store in Port Moody called Zed Threads before relocating to Gastown and changing the name to Crome Yellow. I had come to shop at Zed Threads one day and started chatting with Michael about some of the brands he carried and even gave him praise for his taste in clothing. I told him that I had acquired some Dussault jewelry (a brand he carried back then) at at a liquidation sale. He told me to come on by and show him the jewelry and that he might be interested in buying it. I come back w/ my girlfriend and he says "I tricked you and just wanted to see if you actually had the jewelry"... Basically telling me, "ya I'll offer you $75 for a $1600 belt buckle." Completely wasted my time. I should note that I had shopped at his store before and had regrettably spent over $500. Is this any way to treat a good customer!? I phoned back told him he embarrassed me and that he was extremely rude. He ends up hanging up on me. Fuck this guy. I can totally picture the guitar scenario... Does not surprise me at all. Probably had the guitar on a stand next to a stool begging to be played. I have not gone to Crome Yellow, nor will I ever.

I strongly agree that stores should not have items within reach if they do not want them touched. Anyone who deals with guitars should know that if they have an awesome guitar on display it WILL BE TOUCHED! (UMMM hellooo thats why they make glass cases)
I am concerned however with your customer service expectations. It sounds to me like the man was just being "real". Now if he said it with a bad attitude that is a different story.

why should I have to assume that I can't touch it? it was out there in a store. it's only normal. you see a piece of clothing, you would touch it to see how it's like. i've never heard of something for sale in a store that i couldn't touch that didn't have a sign on it.

sorry, dont really see a need for me to have a gastown store.

who ever said this was a review of the store? i'm sharing my experience with this store on my personal blog.

i dont think you were there but it was pretty clear that it was on display. besides, if it was for decoration, wouldnt it be for people to see and touch? if not, then i would expect a "dont touch" sign of some sort or for it to be in a case. i dont see why you seem to be so against this and have to attack me personally when you dont know me. maybe you're michael burt in disguise?

regardless, this post already did what I wanted it to do. if you search "crome yellow gastown" on google, my post comes before the actual website. great success!

Your comment has nothing to do with the store whatsover. If you're in a clothing store with a guitar in it...why would you assume that it's there for you to play? Just because you can? If you went into Long and McQuade and saw a pair of boot you liked, would you try them on?

Your 'review' doesn't sound legit at all. Instead it looks contrived and makes you appear petty and vindictive, Possibly you're just bitter that you don't have a cute little Gastown shop yourself.
