weekend at tofino

I haven’t blogged for a little while now…been very busy. I was planning on blogging this weekend but where I stayed didn’t have service! So, I had a service free, almost tech-free weekend. I went to tofino on vancouver island and had an amazing time.

My friends and I stayed at the Cox Bay Resort – soooo sick. The view was amazing and we were right by the ocean. We surfed, had a campfire, and were just tourists. The best part was obviously surfing, but just chilling under the shitload of bright stars completely disconnected from everything was unbeatable. I don’t think any kind of trip could do what this trip did for me. Finally had the time to just take a break from my crazy schedule and connect with myself.

I took a whole bunch of picture and I’ll be posting them soon…when I have time to develop them

Bad Service at store called Crome Yellow in Gastown #vancouver

I encountered some bad service in Gastown from a store called Crome Yellow on Abbott Street. I was on my break with my boss and he decided to stop into the store – he saw a shoe that he wanted and wanted to check it out. We went in and my boss was greeted and was helped by helpful and knowledgable guy called Juno Kim.

I went to the back of the store to check everything else out and saw a beautiful guitar on display with a pick in it and everything. I picked it up and was admiring the guitar and was about to play when the manager, Michael Burt, talks to me from behind his counter.

Manager: “Do you play guitar?”

Me: “Yup! This is a nice guitar”

Manager: “Yeah… you shouldn’t pick it up like that. That’s a $3,000 guitar custom built by a master guitar maker who spent four months on it. You shouldn’t pick it up without asking.”

What kind of service is this? If you have a problem with people touching things, either don’t put it on display or put up a sign saying “Don’t touch – Please Ask” or something like that. Service like that is probably what’s getting you no customers on the floor and less than 20 fans on Facebook, and less than 15 on Twitter.

At that point, I just put down the guitar and told my boss to buy the shoes elsewhere.

I was there to check out the store to see if we could do a feature on them for the magazine – that’s definitely not happening anymore. My boss was going to buy a bunch of stuff there, too – that’s not happening either. I was also looking for new jackets – I’m shopping elsewhere.

If you haven’t seen this movie, go watch it now. Or read up about it, and then watch it. One of the best movies I’ve seen recently, even though it’s 2000 movie.
