hype guerrilla style marketing

Been doing some brainstorming for some guerrilla style marketing for justalilhype! Some very interesting sticker ideas.

Starting from left to right:
1) Local radio station wanted to publicize its coverage of controversial topics and position itself in the market as being opinionated, informational, and memorable.
2)Twilight: Vampire bite stickers done in Sydney
3)Unicef: Stickers stuck on ground with heavy pedestrian traffic. When people realized there was a sticker under their shoe, they removed it and the underside revealed a landmine graphic with a chilling message: in many countries, that landmine would have been real, and the person holding the sticker would now be dead or injured.

Will the real Robson Square please stand up….

Now with the olympics out of the way, robson square can finally ease its way back to its normal nights. This place has been decked out with the latest stage style space age lighting/sound equipment. Before the world came to watch our city, this place was a run down underground concrete dwelling which would bring vancity’s street dancers and other (borderline ridiculous) forms of art together. The old robson square… we’re talking about rotting wood benches, cracked ice rink floors, piles of fallen leaves everywhere, dirt, dust, rats everywhere, and some of the weirdest people you’ll ever meet – we’re talking people who play gypsy violin music while having a doobie…

Hey at least its cleaner now :) you’ll find us all here on thursday nights.

Here’s Shin teaching newstyle hip hop…

City Secrets: Belgian Fries

And yes… another favourite joint. Nothing but good ol’ healthy basic food groups here. We have fried patatoes, fried fish, and fried ice cream, Belgian Fries: you guessed it… we like to deep fry here! Few blocks up from Broadway Station on Commercial Drive and 4th you’ll find this on a corner directly across from Waves Coffee.

And hey! Look what my smartass decided to get. “ah yes i’ll have combo a: heartattack in a bowl… this’ll give me some good energy for the dance class i have to teach in a few minutes!”

must have/must trash: products reviewed

Alright lets start with the ‘must have’…we’re talking about the Klipsch Image S4i. I’ve owned these for the past month and have put them through some good use on the Skytrain, in the mall, at home, on skype, and the list goes on. I must say this… is a MUST HAVE. Jumping from the generic ‘come with your iPhone ear buds’ to this beast was giving my ears repeated eargasms. In a nutshell, these babies pump the bass and have crystal clear sound. Having the snug silicon plugs also help reduce outside noise and allows for a much better listen. The in-line microphone and 3-button remote system lets you easily handle the voice and/or music control of your iPod classic, iPod nano (4th gen), iPod touch (end gen), iPod shuffle (3rd gen) or iPhone 3GS. The only down side is that I own the 3G and the damn volume controls are useless buttons. Check them out at the Apple store.

Now moving on to more serious business…

Something tells me I’m going to need to get on to the pre-order list for these babies….

This has been brought to you by the ‘must have/must trash review’.

City Secrets: Phnom Penh Restaurant

When I’m not around the team scavenging for the next cheapest meal, I like to find a decent joint to fill the stomach.  This little place hidden in Chinatown serves some of the best southeast asian/cambodian food.  If you like wings, THIS PLACE IS A MUST.  Check it out 244 E Georgia St.

Just a friendly reminder.  My crew the Groovy G’s and I are throwing a local dance battle.  We’re drawing international attention this time and we’ve got Boston, San Diego, and Montreal all reppin.   April 3rd, come out on this long weekend and support our local street dance scene.

Look out for the noodle photo booth put on by justalilhype!
