Who Needs a Man’s Best Friend?

It’s video clips like this that really inspire me to do more work. This person is self taught, and clearly has put in the time and dedication. Just goes to show that if you really want to, anyone can create beautiful art.

Smart Phones are Smarter than YOU.

Case in point.

Vacation Time

Lately I have found myself overwhelmed with life and school. It has been a pretty pressing time for me but I’m hoping to get away from it all as soon as my summer break begins this Friday. I’m not one to tell my life story and all the drama behind it but the last couple weeks have been awful; luckily, I hear California is a cure for it all. I’m going on a 10 day road trip with my pops down the west coast and plan on hitting up all the major cities in California and might even make a detour through to Colorado and Arizona. Hopefully this means I’ll finally get some sun.

The trip is going to be mostly full of golf, and beaches but I also plan on hitting up the MLB Allstar Game which is being held in Los Angeles this year. I’ll be bringing my camera so I’ll make sure to give some updates while on my trip. I’m also hoping I can get my hands on the new Iphone while I am down there but after reading 100’s of articles on the “reception” issues, I’m kind of thinking twice about it. Anyway, I hope all of you get to experience a little get away time this summer and make sure to soak it all in because usually, the real world kind of sucks.

Toys

One thing I have always had an interest in is toys. While it is not practical to actually purchase any due to the ridiculous price and uselessness of the actual item, I do enjoy looking at them whether it be in store or online. Since I can’t afford to purchase any at this point in time, I have done the next best thing. Drawn one.

‘Shoe’ In for Design of the Year

I’ll be the first to admit that Illustrator is not my strong point but I’m quite proud with my latest design. The design itself is a vector based image, so for those who are noobs, means it won’t pixelate regardless of the size. Anyway, it was created in CS4 using the pen tool and gradient meshes and took me over 8 hours to complete and while it’s not perfect as it could use some texturing. I am still quite happy with it.

While vector art isn’t my strong point, it’s comforting knowing that I can complete something of this caliber. However, for my next project, I’m going to dive into the world of photo manipulation. Recently I’ve been inspired by a teacher of mines work. I’m looking forward to spending countless hours to create something that will hopefully resemble any of these.

“That Volcano That Nobody Can Pronounce”

Sometimes destruction can be beautiful. Case in point with the eruptions at Mount Eyjafjallajökull. While the Smoke and debris has caused enormous amounts of damage to the economy and halted flights across Europe, it has also created opportunities for brilliant photographers to come in and capture something that may only come once in a lifetime. Unfortunately, not too many people have capitalized on it; until now. Photographer Sean Stiegemeier made the long trip to Iceland just to capture this footage for one simple reason.

So I saw all of these mediocre pictures of that volcano in Iceland nobody can pronounce the name of, so I figured I should go and do better. But the flights to get over took forever as expected (somewhat). 4 days after leaving I finally made it, but the weather was terrible for another 4. Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get.

The result is this beautiful time lapse. Enjoy!

DSLR Photography is Alive and Better than Ever!

In an earlier post, I wrote why DSLRs were dead. However, in writing that article, I completely overlooked one game-changing perk. No it isn’t any kind of lens or flash or any kind of add-on that can be useful when shooting. Nope, instead it is a laser, that’s right, a laser! DSLR’s, meet Modern Warfare 2. One thing I constantly find myself thinking when I go out shooting is that I wish I had a red dot sight to track my prey.. I mean.. subjects, yes… subjects. If this doesn’t increase DSLRs popularity nothing will. Combine this with a custom photosniper camera and I’m good to go. Seems like the perfect combination for a photojournalist shooting in Iraq.

Eye Candy

Hey everyone, I’m back again with another amazing video! I hope that you readers are enjoying all of of my video posts and for the most part, that is what I hope to contribute; a tiny glimpse into how beautiful the world of visual arts can be. This latest post features a video done by Superfad for Sony’s “make.believe” campaign. Shot at 1000 FPS using a Phantom Cinema camera, this clip mixes both live action, and CGI into one beautiful masterpiece. If you thought the Cupcake video was awesome, wait till you see this. Enjoy!

Death by Cupcakes

Ever wonder what it would like to see cupcakes launched at somebody out of a cannon? Yea, me too. Well lucky us, now we get to view it in HD and at 700 FPS…. Could it be anything less than epic? If you aren’t a fan of Johnny Cupcakes you will be after this. Enjoy

DSLR Photography is Dead

Sorry to all you recreational dSLR shooters but photography is dead. Maybe I shouldn’t be so cynical, maybe it isn’t dead, after all, for those that really put in the time and effort, nothing will ever be able to compare right? Wrong! Cellphones are the future.

I apologize for the lack of HD capabilities, the embedding system isn’t fully functional right now but you get the idea. Maybe I shouldn’t have spent all this money on camera gear and I think this makes me officially over Blackberry’s.
