The Misconception of Degeneration

A product is first released and it is amazing. Whether it is a song, an artist, a motion or a movement, a keyboard or a hat, that product is gold. The product is talked about, featured about, sung about, all over the world. The world cannot wait for the second product. As they grow tired with the first product, the pressure to reinvent and recreate kicks in. Procreation becomes the only thoughts of the mothers and fathers of this cynical genius. The second child is born. Just as epic as ever, the chain restarts. The product is talked about, featured about, sung about, all over the world. That product is gold, whether it’s a hat or a keyboard, a movement of a motion, an artist, or a song. At this point, the mothers and fathers of this cynical genius are revered as bringers of gold – anything they create is considered as greatness. The third product is released. Just like the brothers before him, he is golden. However, he was created differently than the rest. Regardless, because they came from the same parents, he is respected and considered a golden product. However, people notice this slight change and they are not happy. The internet trolls rolls in and wave after wave of attacks descend upon the web, eroding the front created by the golden child, but they are not strong enough.

Soon, the fourth and the fifth are released. Like the third, each are created quite differently than the ones preceding them. Many people notice. They consider this change a degeneration. “What happened to the ingenuity? Did they wear out their creative minds and starved to death? Were they just a fad? Where is that oozy that I am looking for?” Soon, the troll army increases, swelling in numbers, filling conversations around the world.

But what if the creators never saw this as a degeneration? What if they viewed this as evolution? An evolution to face the world, to change the world, but only to see a world bearing arms in resistance. If only people could see past the point of their own disappointment and see into the eyes of the creator and have an understanding of some sort. If this could happen, creativity would increase multiple folds. Rather than chasing what you lost from a creator, you understand the new direction and place yourselves in a completely new direction with new influences. The world should never yearn for those that are lost. The world should never yearn for those that are past. Step off the edge of your own comfort zone and look into the eyes of others that have conquered perils beyond imagine and employ their concentration, their dedication, and their passion.
