When you are good at something, it is important to be consistent and be able to deliver every single time. That is what allows people to become the best at what they do. This requires a lot of practice, precision and time to ensure a high level of consistency is met. A person’s level of consistency is also a measurement of their dedication and passion.
The pressure of being consistent for being an artist is extremely high. Not only are they critiqued through every song that they release, they are also expected to meet the expectation in terms of sales for their concerts and albums. Stage presence is probably one aspect of being a hip-hop artist that rookies fear the most. It is hard to consistently deliver a high level of energy during a performance because it takes a lot of experiences to be able to carry out an emotional performance. Winning one breakdance battle doesn’t mean that a breakdancing deserves a title or award. It is about streaks and your ability to always shine on the floor. In fashion especially street wear, brands come and go because they fade out and become irrelevant. A successfully clothing line not only are able to exist during the high and lows waves of street wear popularity, but are also able to stand in the forefront and carry that wave to help trend street wear fashion as a whole.
In sport culture, this is seen when MVPs of each sport are not only able to exceed their expectations on a regular basis, but they are able to deliver perfection over a period of one’s career. One or two years of excellent performance means nothing because everyone have career highs, but being able to withstand the test of time means something much more.
Today, there are a lot of people who aim to become one hit wonders, and try to gain for immediate fame with one or two albums, or become a headline or celebrity by winning a battle or two. With the world observing all your steps, doing well is simple, but one can only start a legacy with incredible consistency.
