The long anticipated project The Masses Volume II is finally released by Vancouver’s “Fresh Prince of the City”, HeatWave. The mixtape is hosted by DJ Kemo and features 13 full tracks along with a quick intro of shout-outs. With a strong team behind this young talent, expectations are high for this release and Heatwave is eagered to reach the masses through a glimpse of his latest music reflecting his true self. Throughout the mixtape, various other strong rappers are featured alongside with Heat, including Young Sin, Snak the Ripper, Fizal Stars, Profe-C, Concise, Nova, Yoge, and Da Bizness.
Overall, the follow up of this mixtape series offers a strong comeback. The mixtape have swayed away from mainstream rap, and brings listeners to the world of HeatWave. As depicted in the track “Let Me Hear You Say”, he offers his insights about his position in the rap game and his ambitious goals of bringing his music to the masses. “I Had Dreams” is another successful track in telling the story of HeatWave through a chill beat. Collaborative tracks such as “Verbal Murder”, “Smoke Out”, “Products of the Streets”, are lyrically powerful as it shows how the rappers flow together. In this mixtape, inarguably HeatWave has proven to step up his rap game in terms of having created a much more influential and mixtape, which speaks upon his dreams and life on top of powerful instrumentals by DJ Kemo.
